Abstract

119,800. Coleby, F. Feb. 18, 1918 Mandrels.-The body is in one piece and is slotted to receive the dogs f, the outward movements of which are limited by bridge-pieces h, or by a ring or rings let into a groove or grooves in the body. The dogs are pressed outwards by a spindle which is screwed into one end of the body and has a tapered portion e' and two parallel portions e<2>, c<3> fitting cylindrical borings in the body. The spindle may have an angular end k by which it can be rotated and as shown may have tapered recesses to fit the lathe-centres. In one modification, the body has a screwed extension by which it can be attached to a jig or other fixture. Or it may be modified as shown in Fig. 5 to fit a hollow-mandrel lathe.
