Abstract

1,172,241. Spray burner. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 22 Feb., 1967 [10 Feb., 1966], No. 5844/66. Heading F4T. A spray nozzle comprises a tubular body 10 having an interior passage 12 divided at its outlet end into branches 13, 14 which open into a groove 15 provided in the V-shaped end of the nozzle, the groove 15 defining with a sheet metal V-shaped cover 16, a passage, and said cover having equi-distant between the ends of the groove a transverse slot 17. Streams of liquid fuel supplied through branches 13, 14 impinge upon one another in the region of the slot 17 whereby the liquid is emitted in a substantially flat fan-shaped spray pattern. The spray nozzle may be used in gas-turbine engines.
