Abstract

1,164,896. Submersible craft; cycloidal propellers. L. W. SEELEY. 12 April, 1967 [7 Sept., 1966], No. 16763/67. Headings B7A and B7G. [Also in Division F2] A submersible vessel 10 comprises a hull 12 of ellipsoidal shape in elevation having the major transverse axis vertically disposed, a pressure bulkhead 14 dividing the hull into a cockpit area 16 and a flooded area 18 for power, air ballast equipment &c., a cycloidal propeller propulsion system 34 at the port and starboard sides of the vessel, and means 36 for controlling the operation of the propulsion system. Control means 36 consists of a pair of control sticks 98 which through sprockets and gears adjust the setting of blades 80 of the cycloidal propellers, and of selector lever 124 which can be set in forward, reverse or turn notches.
