Abstract

1460387 Propelling ships J M VOITH GmbH 22 July 1974 [24 July 1973] 32377/74 Headings B7V and B7A A vessel has two hulls 1, 2, each fitted with a propulsion unit 6 with a variable direction of thrust. The units are angled so that when they produce transverse thrust, the jet 10 from each unit does not interfere with the other hull. The axis 8 of each unit lies in a transverse vertical plane so that forward and reverse thrust may be generated in a true fore and aft direction. The units may be Voith-Schneider propellers, as shown, or pivotally mounted screw propellers.
