Abstract
1,133,102. Marine jet propulsion. UA ENG. Ltd. 3 Oct., 1966 [1 July, 1965], No. 27827/65. Heading B7V. A propulsion system comprises a pair of separate ducts 1 in the bow region of a hull of a vessel on opposite sides thereof with forward intakes 5 and rear outlets 8 which break through the hull below the waterline, two impellers 9 mounted at an intermediate position in the ducts, and driving means 11 which enable the impellers to be driven at a controlled differential speed. A deflector 12 may be provided adjacent each outlet movable from an inoperative position in a recess 13 into the hydraulic jet for steering.
