Abstract
1363637 Water-jet propulsion unit U A ENG Ltd 4 Nov 1971 [13 Nov 1970] 54281/70 Heading B7V In a marine craft water-jet propulsion unit intake duct 11 extends between inlet opening 12 in the base of the craft and outlet opening 14 in line with transom 13. Outlet duct 32 is arranged in communication with the intake duct and impeller 29 is mounted within one of the ducts. The intake duct 11 is defined in part by section 10 of the hull of the craft and that part of the channel of the duct which is adjacent the transom is closed by a separately fitted member 36 which defines the rear edge of the inlet opening and a portion of the wall of the intake duct. Water entering the intake duct has an upward component of velocity and the water has a downward component of velocity on discharge through the outlet opening. The outlet duct 32 carries a steering unit comprising a pair of buckets 38 and deflector 40 for movement astern.
