Abstract
1308310 Ships propellers LIPS NV 19 May 1970 [19 May 1969] 25503/69 Heading B7V A ship's propeller 1 is enclosed by a nozzle ring 2 provided with annular slots 4 and 5 which can be selectively fed with water to modify the main propulsion stream. These slots, which may be either continuous or a series of separate arcuate sections, are interconnected by ducts 6, 7 and control means (not shown) cause the slots to operate in either a suction or exhaust mode. The flow X, Y from the slots is at approximately 60 degrees to the propeller axis and, by selecting a slot, or part slot, the main flow stream can be accelerated, retarded or deflected.
