746,383. Propelling and manoeuvring ships. McGAWN, T. Q. July 2, 1954 [July 3, 1953], No. 18537/53. Class 114. A marine vessel has a single motor driven pump 2 arranged to draw water from the sea via ducts 5, chest 4 and duct 3, nozzles 13b located at the bow and stern, nozzles 13b located on the port and starboard sides near the bow, and nozzles 13b located on the port and starboard sides near the stern, ducts 8, 9, 10, 11, 11a, 12, 13, 13a connecting the pump discharge 6 to each of the nozzles which latter are positioned below the water level, and an arrangement of manually operable valves 14, 14a, 14b, 14c, 14d, 14e, which can be selectively controlled so that jets of water can be discharged through any selected nozzle or combination of nozzles to propel and/or manoeuvre the vessel.
