1322958 Propelling ships R SILVESTER 22 Oct 1970 [31 Oct 1969] 50328/70 Heading B7V [Also in Division F1] A vessel or craft having propellers or jet nozzles is provided with apparatus for increasing the thrust produced comprising a shroud 11 having a flared inlet 17 which surrounds e.g. a nozzle 13 and which is placed close to the hull or wall 14 of the vessel or craft. A tubular extension 15 may be added to the shroud 11. Propulsion units having flared shrouds may be positioned in recesses at the sides of a ship's hull and may be pivotable for steering.
