Abstract

1,088,668. Pleasure craft; aircraft. E. G. FISHER and J. W. G. PETERS. Dec. 9, 1965 [Sept. 30, 1964], No. 39828/64. Headings B7A and B7W. A pleasure craft comprises a buoyant body or hull 1 that resembles a conventional torpedo and carries a hollow rectangular column 11 whereon a passenger-carrying wing-unit 9 is slidably mounted, counterweights 18 being lodged within said column and connected to the wing-unit by cables 19, which pass over pins 20 at the uppermost end of the column. The wing- unit has an aerofoil shape so that when the hull 1 is driven by a propeller 2 the wing-unit can be made to rise up the column 11. Control surfaces 5, 6 and 15 on the hull and the wing-unit, respectively, are operated from within a passenger well 10 in the wing-unit. The propeller 2 is driven by a power unit e.g. an electric motor, I.C. engine or steam engine, lodged in the hull 1.
