Abstract

116,367. Wiltshire, W. W. June 14, 1917. Open fire-places, air-heating fittings for.-An elongated casing or airchamber 8 is disposed behind and forwardly inclined over the fire, the smoke outlets 18 leading round each side of and behind it as shown in Fig. 3. Air is admitted to the lower end of the chamber through conduits 6 at each side, Figs. 1 and 3, or directly from the outside as shown in Fig. 1; or in place of the side conduits 6, a horizontal forward extension 24 at the base, beneath the fire, may serve for admission of air as shown in Fig. 6. The heated air is delivered into the room from the top of the chamber. Smoke passages 26 may also be formed through the chamber as shown in Fig. 6.
