Abstract

1,157,166. Spray carburetters. DAIMLERBENZ A. G. March 21, 1967 [March 24, 1966] No. 13122/67. Heading F1B. A suction-operated valve 24 is opened when the throttle valve is closed to permit excess fuel from the float chamber to flow through a return flange 12, 13, back to the fuel tank. The valve 24 is screwed on to the carburetter body and comprises a valve 32 connected to a spring-loaded diaphragm 26 operated by intake manifold suction transmitted through connector 23. During normal running valve 32 is held against its seat 15 but at idling or over-running conditions, when the fuel pump supplies excess fuel to the float chamber, the suction opens the valve 32, the excess fuel escaping through orifice 17 into a connector 19 to which the return pipe is connected.
