Abstract
1,143,178. Electro-deposition of palladiumnickel alloys. SUWA SEIKOSHA K. K. and NISSHIN KASEI K. K. Jan. 10, 1968 [Jan. 11,1967], No. 1474/68. Heading C7B. A plating bath for electro-deposition of a palladium-nickel alloy comprises an aqueous solution of palladium ammine and nickel ammine, said solution having a palladium content of 5-30 gm/l and a nickel content of 5-30 gm/l and the relative proportions of the palladium and nickel being such that the palladium-nickel alloy deposited therefrom has a palladium content of 30-90% by weight. The electrolyte may include an ammonium salt of an organic or inorganic acid, e. g. ammonium sulphate or citrate. The bath may also contain as brighteners naphthalene sulphonic acid salts, e. g. the sodium salts of naphthalene α- or #- sulphonic acids, naphthalene 1, 5- disulphonic acid or naphthalene 1, 3, 6-trisulphonic acid; or aromatic sulphonamides, e.g. saccharin or p-toluenesulphonamide. A palladium or graphite anode may be used.
