Abstract

1,133,100. Gas stud heater. B. C. ASHLEY. 13 Dec., 1965 [14 Dec., 1964], No. 50882/64. Heading F4T. A gas fuelled stud heater comprises a barrel A formed at one end with a head F supplied with fuel gas and air and having at its opposite end a plug B from which axially extends a stainless steel tubular heating tip C. The head F has an annular air duct N, closed by a ring I and fed from a line L, in communication with the barrel through holes G. The gas inlet M comprises the nozzle of an oxy-acetylene torch which extends axially through the head F. In use the tip C is inserted into the axial bore of a bolt Q having a nut P and the products of combustion heat the bolt before escaping through vent holes E in a spacer D welded to the plug B.
