Abstract

1, 125, 029. Fuel injectors. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Dec.28, 1966 [Dec. 31, 1965], No.57854/66. Heading F1B. A fuel injector adapted to produce a preinjection and a main injection comprises a spring- loaded slide valve 16 controlling a main passage 23 to the delivery passage 24 and an additional passage 26. At the beginning of injection passage 23 is closed and 26 is opened so pre-injection occurs until valve 16 has moved distance b when both passages are closed and injection is interrupted. After further travel of valve 16 to the right passage 23 is opened and main injection occurs. Space 15 behind valve 16 is connected through throttle 27 to the leakage fuel chamber 2b, whereby the movement of valve 16 to the right is retarded by the rate at which fuel can be forced through throttle 27. Rapid return of valve 16 to the left is ensured by non-return valve 29 which opens to allow fuel to flow rapidly from chamber 2b to space 15.
