Abstract
1,191,494. Fuel injection systems. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. Sept. 7, 1967 [Sept. 8, 1966], No. 40972/67. Heading F1B . The control piston 2 of the parent Specification is modified by forming the upper end 3 thereof as a blocking piston which closes the port 12, connected to the passage 14 leading to the nozzle, in the period between the pre- and main injections. During the initial movement from its upper position the piston forces fuel through port 12 to the nozzle 14 for the pre-injection. When the portion 3 closes the port 12 to terminate preinjection, recess 4 opens a relief port 13 and fuel escapes into a relief chamber 25. On further downward movement, the upper end of the piston reopens port 14 for the main injection. Upward return of the piston 2 is arrested by fine bores 26, 27, which permit slow refilling of the space 9 and relief of pressure in chamber 25. The relief passage 13 may incorporate a non-return valve and space 9 may be refilled through a fuel supply line direct to this space.
