Abstract
950,252. Fuel injectors. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Jan. 31, 1962 [Feb. 18, 1961], No. 3602/62. Heading F1B. A fuel injector needle valve 4 with a conical seat face 21, Fig. 2, seating on an edge in the valve body formed at the junction of a conical face 20, of greater cone angle than the face 21, and a cylindrical surface 23, the needle having a pintle 24 fitted closely in a guide bore which is either the same diameter as cylinder 23 or slightly less, the arrangement being such that the effective area on which the fuel pressure acts is either the same when the valve is open or closed or is no more than 6% smaller when closed than when open. In Fig. 2 the conical faces 21, 20, differ by about 1 degree. In Fig. 3 the guide bore 30 is of smaller diameter than surface 23 and the guide surface 31 of the pintle closes the injector opening until the valve has lifted the distance h.
