Abstract
1284797 I C engine fuel injectors DAIMLERBENZ AG 17 April 1970 18468/70 Heading F1B A needle valve 6 in a hole or throttling pintle type of nozzle 4 is opened by the injection pressure against the force of two springs 7 and 8 which load the valve independently in succession. The spring 7 acts through members 9 and 10 and is prestressed for valve opening at a predetermined pressure (P 1 ), Figs.2 to 5 (not shown). The spring 8 acts through sleeve 13 and members 9 and 10 and is pre-stressed to permit further valve lift at a predetermined higher pressure (P 2 ), Figs.2 to 5 (not shown) with member 10 abutting the sleeve. The sleeve 13 is prevented from inward movement by the spring 8 by the pin 11 and member 12 bridging the member 9 and bearing on the part clamped between the holder 1 and the nut 5. The force/deflection characteristic (C 1 ), Figs.2 and 4 (not shown), of the spring 7 may have a greater or smaller slope than the characteristic (C 2 ) of the spring 8.
