Abstract
1,114,073. Continuous casting. GOSUDARSTVENY SOJUZNY INSTITUT PROJEKTIROVANYA METALLOURGITCHESKIKH ZAVODOV. 4 July, 1966 [6 April, 1966], No. 29893/66. Heading B3F. In a cage of superimposed pairs of opposed withdrawal rolls 5 for a vertical continuous casting 4, the roll bearings 3 are horizontally slidable in a support frame 1, one roll being secured in a position determined by at least one adjusting device such as a screw 7, acting on its bearing 3, but the remainder each being urged towards the casting 4 by at least one jack 6, each pair of jacks having its own independent hydraulic circuit so that failure in one pair of rollers does not hinder the withdrawal of the casting. The position of the roller adjusted by the screw 7 determines the relative positions of the whole withdrawal cage and the casting 4. The screw 7 and jacks 6 act on spindles of the rolls 5 by way of their bearings 3 which slide in slots 2 in the support frame 1. Several pairs of rollers may be provided with the adjusting device such as the screw 7, one to each pair.
