Abstract

1434504 Rolling mills NIPPON KOKAN KK 28 May 1974 [19 June 1973] 23525/74 Heading B3M A prestressed universal rolling mill has an upper housing part 1 which carries an upper roll 4 and which is releasably joined to a lower housing part 2 carrying a lower roll 28 and a pair of vertical rolls. Hydraulically expandable tie rods 13 hold the housing parts together, with the lower faces 17 of the upper part 1 bearing against the chocks 20 of the vertical rolls. Both the horizontal and vertical rolls are adjustable by wedges. The mill stand is normally supported on a base 16 but may be lifted bodily by rails 39, and shifted on wheels 38 laterally of the rolling line.
