Tread bands, projections, and surfaces.-Transverse chains &c. d are adjustably connected by plates j and transverse bolts k to curved segments a of wood, metal, or other material, which are shaped to fit against the inner periphery of the rim and are clamped to the spokes c by bolts e. To prevent complete detachment of the bolts e, these are preferably threaded or swivelled to the segments, the nuts f being shouldered into or behind the opposite segments.
