Tread bands, projections, and surfaces.-A detachable tread device for assisting a vehicle over soft ground comprises a series of metal plates 12 which straddle the tyre and are formed with projecting flanges, to which bands 13 are secured by means of plates 14 and rivets 15. The bands 13 may be formed of metal, chain armour, fabric, &c.
