Abstract
7343. Scheie, T. March 23. Tyres, non- elastic. - An extension rim or tyre for a tractionengine wheel consists of curved metal sections B of the same diameter as the wheel rim A, Fig. 3, which are attached thereto by similar curved plates E, overlapping and partly bolted to both at F. The plates are formed with flanges e bolted together at a, and the sections are joined by internal curved plates C-bolted at D. The sections and plates are invertible when not required to widen the rim, and then occupy the position shown in Fig. 2. In this case, the parts C may or may not be fitted to act as non-slipping calks.
