Abstract

249,042. Ormsby, W. Nov. 9, 1925. Disc wheels.-The rim, spokes, and hub of a vehicle wheel are divided circumferentially as shown in Fig. 2, so that a tyre may be mounted on the wheel without forcing the valve through a hole in the wheel. The wheel halves are held in position by bolts 12 or by stud-bolts, and the spoke parts 5, 6, of rectangular, angular, U or curved shape, overlap and interlock with each other, as shown in Fig. 5. The tyre may be carried by an auxiliary flexible rim formed of continuous wire 14 bent in zig-zag form, as shown in Fig. 6, or of units flexibly connected together by hinges, chains, or the like, the flexible rim being gripped between the rim parts 1, 2 of the wheel. Flexible bands 3, 4 on the rim parts 1, 2 respectively, and a flexible band 11 at the hub, seal the joints in the wheel.
