Tread bands, projections, and surfaces. - A sectional or continuous band B of flexible metal is secured on the tyre by side straps C, riveted or unattached thereto, which have slotted ends c<1> engaging over the ends d<1> of pins or bolts secured to the felloes, and the straps are kept in position on the pins or bolts by annular plates E secured thereto by cottars d<2> or by nuts. Non-skid studs may be provided on a thin metal band placed inside the band B, so that the studs project through holes in the band B and in the straps C.
