Tread bands, projections, and surfaces. - A pneumatic tyre cover is provided with short transverse protecting metal plates c, and with longer, but otherwise similar, plates d, which enable the tyre to run over tram lines without skidding. The inner surfaces of these plates are curved to suit the tyre, and their outer surfaces, in the plane of the wheel, are curved to a smaller radius than the wheel tyre.
