4981. Brown, F. S. March 1. Tread bands, projections, and surfaces.- A sectional or continuous non-skid unpuncturable band D of spring steel or other material is formed with a concave inner surface to fit the tyre and with concave outer or tread surface and sides to form sharp edges D<1>. The sides of the band are extended inwards to form flanges D<2> by which it is riveted to the tyre cover. When applied to a solid tyre, bolts are passed through the flanges and the tyre.
