Jackets and covers ; tread bands, projections, and surfaces; tyre attachments to rims.-Overlapping U- shaped d metal tread plates 4, transversely corrugated and formed with tapered reduced ends 8, 9 so as to be flush with one another, are connected by links 5, some of which engage yokes 6 bolted to the rim of the wheel. In a modification, the plates are secured on the tyre by adjustable side rings threaded through links connected with the links 5. The plates may be placed between the cover and the air-tube.
