A rolling mill comprises roll shafts la and 1b mounted in adjustable chocks 4-7 and carrying overhanging cantilevered horizontal rolls. Of the chocks, all of which are vertically adjustable by screws 23 and 24, chocks 4 and 5 are axially movable whilst chocks 6 and 7 are axially fixed by stops 10. Vertical rolls 31 are provided in carriers 28 and are adjustable by screws 29, the left-hand roll being mounted in a separate frame 35 which is connected by tierods to the main frame. The drive of each shaft la and 1b is from a bushing 13 having a splined or polygonally shaped interior bore corresponding to the shaft profile, a pin or cotter 14 preventing relative axial movement of the parts. The mill may be used for cold rolling.
