Abstract
355,487. Rolling-mills. MASCHINENBAU-AKT.-GES., VORM. EHRHARDT & SEHMER, Saarbr³cken, Germany. Aug. 7, 1930, No. 23670. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1929. (Class 83 (iv).] In order to prevent horizontal deflection of the working rolls in a mill for rolling iron in a cold state comprising four superposed rollers in which the line connecting the centres of the working rolls a is situated outside of the line connecting the centres of the supporting rolls b in such manner that the rolling pressure is resolved into two components of unequal amount, the supporting rollers b are made of large diameter and are situated in the direction of the larger rolling pressure component whilst the working rolls a are provided with bearings c mounted in beams d in the direction of the smaller rolling pressure component. The thrust bearings c may extend the whole length of the rolls a and the thrust pressure may be transmitted to them through auxiliary rolls.
