Abstract

1,007,983. Warping. W. H. KIMPTON. Dec. 10, 1962 [Dec. 23, 1061], No. 46134/61. Heading D1M. A beam 10, which is supported on arms 12 pivotally mounted at 13, is moved away from a presser roller 30 under control of a hydraulic jack 18 as yarn is wound on to the beam. A switch 35 is closed when the presser roller 30 is caused to move away from the beam by the accumulation of yarn, and this actuates a solenoid 40 which released pressure from the jack 18. Belt gearing to the beam is arranged to give a constant take-up speed of the yarn through a variable-diameter spring-loaded pulley 20 on the driving motor 19, the motor mounting 27 being pivoted by a lever 25 on the arms 12 actuating a lever 26 on the mounting 27. In a modified arrangement the beam is driven through a variable-speed gearbox with a control lever actuated by movement of the hydraulic jack. The beam may alternatively be driven from the presser roller which is rotated at a fixed speed to give a constant yarn take-up.
