Abstract

803,707. Beaming yarns. REINERS. W. Dec. 15, 1955 [Dec. 15, 1954], No. 36046/55. Class 142(1) A warp beam can be wound " hard " or "soft" according to whether the beam moves away from a presser roller as its diameter increases or whether the presser roller moves away from the beam. Yarns F are wound on a beam 3 carried by an arm 2 mounted on a shaft 4. The beam is driven by chains 21, 22. A control rod 5 and lever 7 connect the arm to a regulating gear 6. The presser roller 9 is mounted on an arm 10 .pivoted at 11 and can be locked by a latch 24. A further control rod 25 and a lever 8 connect the gear 6 to the arm 10. To wind a hard beam, the arm 10 is lockeld by the latch and as the yarn builds up on the beam, the arm 2 moves away from a stop 23. To wind a soft beam, the latch is released and the arm remains against the stop, the presser roller moving away from the beam. Detachable counterweights 13 control the pressure exerted against the yarns. A liquid damping device 17 is provided. Provision may be made for 'holding the arm 2 against the stop 23. The yarns F pass through a comb 19 and round a measuring roll 20.
