Abstract
656,869. Warp tension control for slashing-machines. DOMINION TEXTILE CO., Ltd. Dec. 8, 1948, No. 31791. Convention date, Feb. 13. [Class 142(iv)] The tension of the yarns in a slashing machine is maintained constant by a device including a guide roller positioned between the beam and a compensating roller so that the direction of the yarn between the compensating and guide rollers remains almost constant regardless of the movement of the compensating roller. The yarn 12 at the delivery end of the slasher passes round rollers 20, 22, over a compensating roller 34, round a guide roller 36, and on to the beam 14. The roller 34 is mounted on a pair of bell crank levers 26, pivoted at 30, and movement of the roller 34 is transmitted by levers 46, 54, 62, 66 and links 42, 56, 64, 70, 76, 78, 90 to a friction clutch 104. A weight 60 urges the roller 34 against the pull of the yarn. Extra pull on the yarn moves the roller 34, allowing the clutch to slip.
