Abstract

837,315. Beaming warps. HOLT Ltd., T., HOLT, F., and LEE, G. Jan. 8, 1958 [Jan. 10, 1957], No. 965/57. Class 142(1) Movement of a presser roll 29, Fig. 2, away from the beam 10 as the diameter of the winding increases operates a microswitch 45 which causes the beam to be swung positively away from the presser roll. When the beam is full, the movement is continued to deposit the beam on the floor as shown at 10a. The beam is driven through an infinitely-variable gear controlled to keep the yarn speed constant. As shown in Fig. 3, a guide roller 46, rotated by the yarn passing over it, drives the sun wheel 47 of an epicyclic gear; the annulus 49 is driven at a constant speed by a motor 50 through a friction wheel 51; the friction wheel can be moved by a hand-wheel 63 to select the desired yarn speed. The planet carrier 53 is connected to a slipping clutch 55, 56 which carries a striker 57 situated between two microswitches, one of which starts a motor to reduce the ratio of the infinitelyvariable gear, and the other of which starts the motor in the reverse direction to increase the ratio. In a modification, the roller 46 drives a tachometer fitted with switch contacts for the same purpose
