Abstract
690,803. Making chenille. BRADITCH, M. Sept. 27, 1948 [Sept. 26, 1947], No. 25117/48. Class 142(iv) Twisted core chenille is manufactured on a machine of the type in which the core threads are advanced by endless driving threads or ribbons having a continuous motion. A plate 6 is rotated by an electric motor through suitable transmission 4. Four pulley wheels 9, 10 mounted on the plate carrying the driving threads 11, 12 and two of the pulleys engage a stationary gear 25 and are rotated when the plate 6 rotates. Core warp threads 29, 30 unwind from spools 20, 21, also carried by the plate 6, and pass through guides 13, 14 and are driven by the threads 11, 12. Chenille weft spools 16 are mounted on two discs 15 which rotate about the guides 13, 14 due to their engagement with a friction ring 24 carried by a stationary ring 23. The weft threads pass through guides 22 and wind round the core and driving threads. The core threads, after passing between guide rollers 27, 28, are wound on a take-up roller which does not rotate about the longitudinal axis of the plate 6 so that the core threads become twisted together and hold the weft threads whose loops are cut by a knife mounted at the point of exit from the rollers 27, 28.
