925,692. Change-speed belt gearing. TUNGUM CO. Ltd. Nov. 29, 1961 [Aug. 30, 1960], No. 29812/60. Classes 80 (1) and 80 (2). In a change-speed belt drive comprising oppositely stepped driving and driven pulleys 4, 6 in which each pulley step has an associated normally slack belt 8, a separate tensioning jockey pulley 15 is provided for each belt and is operated by a pneumatic cylinder 19 through a remote control lever 26. The latter is movable in a horizontal selector gate 29 and, to tension a desired belt, is engaged with the appropriate one of a series of vertical notches 30, thereby rotating a pivoted catch 33 to operate the button 32 of a control valve 23 connected to its cylinder 19 by a flexible pipe 24. The handle is retained in the engaged position by a notch 37 in catch 33. The slack belts are supported by shrouds 10 split at 40 and clamped by studs 42 projecting a supporting member.
