Class 120(2) The sets of guiding elements in a gate tensioner are held yieldably apart by the resultant of two counteracting forces at least one of which is produced by an elastomer. The force separating the steel pins of the gate tensioner may be provided by a steel spring opposed by a cord of natural rubber or polychloroprene. Alternatively, two rubber bands of unequal strength may be used. Provision may be made for the tension of the ingoing or outgoing thread to play a part in controlling the position of the gate.
