PREPARACION DE (4S)-6-FLUOR-ESPIROCROMAN-4,4K-IMIDAZOLIN-2K,5K-DIONA O SU (2R)-METIL DERIVADO. UN HALURO DE B-(4-FLUORFENOXI) ALCANO INFERIOR APROPIADO SE AMIDOALQAUILA EN MEDIO ACIDO Y ESTE COMPUESTO SE DESHIDRATA Y ESPIROALQUILA PARA DAR UN COMPUESTO DE AZLACTONA ESPIROALQUILADO, QUE POR HIDROLISIS ACIDA SE CONVIERTE EN LA SAL HIDROHALURO DEL ESPIRO-AMINOACIDO, QUE SE ESTERIFICA A ESTER METILICO O ETILICO RACEMICO, EL CUAL SE RESUELVE CON A-QUIMOTRIPTINA EN LOS ESTERES (S)-METILICO O (S)-ETILICO, QUE POR REACCION CON CIANATO EN MEDIO ACIDO SE CONVIERTEN EN EL COMPUESTO CICLICO DE ESPIRO-HIDANTOINA DESEADO. SON APLICABLES EN EL TRATAMIENTO DE LAS CATARATAS Y NEUROPATIAS DIABETICAS POR SU INHIBICION DE LA ALDOSA REDUCTASA.
