CONSISTE EN DESULFURAR UNA MASA FUNDIDA DE PARTIDA, CON CONTENIDO DE AZUFRE HASTA 0,3%, MEDIANTE UN TRATAMIENTO CON MAGNESIO PURO Y SIMULTANEAMENTE TRATARLA CON MAGNESIO DE TAL MANERA QUE EL ANALISIS FINAL DE UNA PROPORCION DE MG A S ENTRE 0,8 Y 2,5. EL AJUSTE DE LA PROPORCION ANTERIOR SE REALIZA POR LA ADICION DE AZUFRE, PREFERENTEMENTE AZUFRE-HIERRO, O DE UNA ALEACION DE NIQUEL Y MAGNESIO, SEGUN SEA ELEVADO O BAJO EL CONTENIDO DE MAGNESIO. COMO OTROS ADITIVOS A LA MASA A TRATAR SE UTILIZAN TIERRAS RARAS Y METALES MIXTOS DE CERIO, ALUMINIO, ZIRCONIO Y CALCIO.
