Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled graphite cast iron having improved strength, by innoculating a specific amount of magnesium when continuously casting eutectic graphite iron containing a specific amount of titanium.
CONSTITUTION: A 0.005W0.025% magnesium is innoculated when preparing eutectic graphite cast iron containing 0.10W0.30% titanium by a continuous casting method. The innoculation reduces initial austenite, miniaturizes eutectic cells and shortens the length of graphite in textural aspects, thereby increasing the tensile strength.
