CONSISTE EN APLICAR UN CATALIZADOR A BASE DE HETEROPOLIACIDO O UNA MEZCLA DEL HETEROPOLIACIDO Y SU SAL A OXIGENO MOLECULAR O GAS QUE CONTIENE OXIGENO MOLECULAR EN GASE VAPOR. LA TEMPERATURA DE ACCION OSCILA ENTRE 250 Y 400GC, Y LA REACCION TIENE LUGAR EN PRESENCIA DE VAPOR DE AGUA. LA REACCION PUEDE SER LLEVADA CON UNA ELEVADA VELOCIDAD ESPACIAL. EL CATALIZADOR EMPLEADO ES SOLUBLE EN AGUA PUDIENDO SER TRANSPORTADO EN UN CUERPO PORTADOR Y REGENERARSE DISOLVIENDOLO EN AGUA DESPUES DE SER DESACTIVADO.
