An article subjected in use to attack by liquid acid is made of an alloy having the following percentage composition: .Si.7 - 16 .Ti.1 - 5 .Ni.the balance The alloy may include up to 5% each of Cu, Mo and W, the total not exceeding 10%, and may be annealed at 1000-1100 DEG C. for 4-24 hours.
