Abstract

El propileno se convierte en óxido de propileno en un proceso de fase líquida altamente eficiente en el que la temperatura y la presión se incrementan a lo largo del curso de la epoxidación, que se conduce preferiblemente en un modo de operación continuo. El catalizador utilizado es un catalizador heterogéneo tal como silicato de titanio o titanio sobre sílice. El agente oxidante son especies de oxígeno activo tales como peróxido de hidrógeno o un peróxido orgánico. Cuando el nivel de producción deseado del óxido de propileno no puede seguir siendo mantenido, el catalizador se sustituye o se regenera. La regeneración se realiza lavando el catalizador con un solvente caliente que contiene una fuente de amonio o de cationes de metal álcali siendo esta regeneración altamente efectivo, especialmente cuando el catalizador es un zeolito que contiene titanio.
