L'invention concerne un dispositif d'emballage (5) et un procédé pour l'emballage de balles compressées (6) sur une presse (2) à balles au moyen d'un dispositif de fixation de balles (11) et d'un enrubannage (7) de balles en plusieurs parties, le dispositif présentant une partie supérieure (8), une partie inférieure (9) et éventuellement une partie latérale (10) en forme d'enveloppe. Le dispositif d'emballage (5) pouvant être commandé présente un dispositif de fixation (23) pour le montage du dispositif de fixation de balles (11), un dispositif d'amenée (25) pour la partie supérieure (8) et la partie inférieure (9) ainsi qu'éventuellement un dispositif de manutention (24) destiné à monter la partie latérale (10) sur la balle compressée (6). Le dispositif de fixation (23) et éventuellement le dispositif de manutention (24) sont agencés sur un système de transport (19) mobile le long de la balle compressée (6) dans une direction d'avance (22).
