  • Advantageous embodiments result from the subclaims.
  • the locking device for a door or flap of a motor vehicle is generally used to secure the door or flap against unplanned opening when the door or flap is closed, for example while driving a car.
  • a rotary latch is basically rotatably mounted and can normally be pivoted between an open position and a closed position.
  • the rotary latch can accommodate a locking bolt in the open position, which when the door or flap is closed from an open state to the closed state preferably enters an inlet mouth of the rotary latch and is thus received by the rotary latch.
  • the rotary latch can pivot from the open position into the closed position with an accommodated locking bolt.
  • a pawl is used to hold the rotary latch in the closed position, in particular so that the locking bolt is securely held in the closed position by the rotary latch.
  • the catch can be held in the closed position by latching, namely in particular by latching the pawl, preferably with a stop.
  • the pawl is rotatably mounted on the rotary latch means that the rotary latch is the pawl rotation axis and / or a pivot bearing for the Provides pawl, for example a pin. Since the pawl is rotatably mounted on the rotary latch, the pawl axis of rotation and thus correspondingly the pawl follows a pivoting movement of the rotary latch. In principle, a relative movement between the pawl and the rotary latch is only possible in the form of a rotation of the pawl relative to the rotary latch.
  • the locking device for a door or flap of a motor vehicle By means of a locking device for a door or flap of a motor vehicle, in which the pawl is rotatably mounted on the rotary latch, the locking device for a door or flap of a motor vehicle can be provided in a particularly compact manner. This saves installation space. This in turn can create space for e.g. an electric opening device.
  • the locking device is designed in such a way that the locking mechanism can be opened by moving a stop for the pawl, in particular out of a blocking position of the stop and / or into a release position of the stop.
  • a stop means a component that can move independently of the pawl.
  • such a stop is able to limit a rotation of the pawl, preferably in such a way that this limitation contributes to holding the rotary latch in the closed position by the pawl.
  • no moving stop for a tension pawl is disclosed.
  • Stop for the pawl means that the pawl rotatably mounted on the rotary latch can strike the stop during operation, in particular at least in one position of the movable stop, preferably the blocking position.
  • “In operation” means in the case of a closing process and / or opening process of the closing device.
  • the stop is at least in one position on the movement path of the pawl, which is composed of the rotational path of the pawl and the pivoting path of the rotary latch, basically by superposition.
  • the locking device can be used in a flexible and / or modular manner enables.
  • the locking device can be configured with an identical rotary latch ratchet unit for manual or electrical or manual and electrical triggering of the rotary latch. Triggering the rotary latch means that the rotary latch is no longer held in the closed position as planned and is consequently preferably pivoted in the direction of the opening position or into the opening position.
  • the locking device comprises two stop surfaces for the pawl, the first stop surface being arranged at an angle to the second stop surface, the angle being in particular greater than 30 °, preferably greater than 60 °, particularly preferably greater than 90 °.
  • Two stop surfaces for the pawl means that the pawl strikes both the first stop surface and the second stop surface during operation.
  • the stop has the two stop surfaces, that is to say the first stop surface and the second stop surface.
  • the stop is preferably a component.
  • the angle can be measured between the normals of the two stop surfaces. If the stop is, for example, cuboid, with the top being the first stop surface and one side surface being the second stop surface, the angle is 90 °. If the top is the first stop surface and the bottom is the second stop surface, the angle is 180 °.
  • the pawl hits the stop or the first stop surface when the rotary latch is pivoted from an open position for receiving a locking bolt into the closed position.
  • the stop or the first stop surface rotates the pawl about the pawl rotation axis. This enables the pivoting movement of the rotary latch to be continued until the closed position is reached.
  • the pawl for holding the rotary latch in the closed position lies in particular directly against the stop or against the second stop surface or presses against it.
  • Concern also means at least selectively stay in contact.
  • a torque acting on the rotary latch for rotating the rotary latch into the open position is absorbed by the pawl resting on the stop or the second stop surface. This makes it possible to hold the rotary latch and prevents the locking mechanism from opening unexpectedly.
  • the locking device has a locking element for limiting a rotation of the locking pawl relative to the rotary latch.
  • the blocking element is connected to the rotary latch in a fixed manner or is a projection of the rotary latch.
  • the pawl for holding the rotary latch in the closed position lies in particular directly against the locking element or presses against it. Concern also means being in contact at least occasionally.
  • a flat contact is provided between the pawl and the locking element for holding the rotary latch in the closed position, preferably flat over the majority of the surface of that side of the locking element which faces the pawl in the closed position of the rotary latch.
  • the pawl has the shape of an elongated flat profile and / or overlaps flat with the rotary latch.
  • the overlapping portion of the pawl is at least 40%, preferably more than 50%.
  • An elongated flat profile is typically a component whose length is at least twice as large as the width and the width is at least twice as large as the thickness.
  • the length and width that are perpendicular to the length become orthogonal to the pawl axis of rotation measured and the thickness parallel to the pawl rotation axis.
  • the ends of the elongated flat profile are preferably angular in order to save material or are rounded, arcuate or semicircular in order to reduce material wear during operation.
  • the pawl protrudes radially beyond the rotary latch when the pawl is in contact with the locking element.
  • the pawl in this case rests on a side of the locking element against which the pawl strikes when the pawl has been rotated in a direction of rotation which is in the same direction as the pivoting direction of the rotary latch from an open position to the closed position.
  • Radially protruding refers to the pawl rotation axis or rotary latch pivot axis, which in one embodiment are parallel to one another.
  • the locking device has a pawl spring for pretensioning the pawl in a direction of rotation which is in the same direction as the pivoting direction of the rotary latch from an open position into the closed position.
  • the rotary latch in order to obtain a particularly reliable snap mechanism, is biased by a rotary latch spring, in particular a torsion spring, about its rotary latch pivot axis in the pivoting direction of the rotary latch from its closed position into its open position.
  • a rotary latch spring in particular a torsion spring
  • the locking device is designed such that the locking pawl allows the rotary latch to pivot from an open position into the closed position by means of a snap mechanism, but blocks an unplanned pivoting of the rotary latch from the closed position into the open position.
  • Unscheduled means that a user has not initiated any action to open or close the door or flap, but nevertheless appropriate forces are exerted on the locking mechanism, for example as a result of an accident.
  • Scheduled on the other hand, means that a user has initiated a measure to open or close the door or flap, e.g. by operating an inside door handle or outside door handle or by pressing a button to electrically or mechanically open a door, tailgate or engine hood.
  • a snap mechanism enables a particularly compact but functionally effective design of the locking device for a door or flap.
  • the snap mechanism has the effect that when the rotary latch is pivoted from an open position into the closed position, the pawl, which is pressed against the locking element in particular by the pawl spring, rotates from its starting position by the stop or the or first stop surface against the pivoting direction relative to the rotary latch is, in particular against the force of the pawl spring.
  • the pawl passes the stop and the rotary latch continues its pivoting movement unhindered to the closed position.
  • the pawl is rotated back into the starting position, specifically in the pivoting direction of the rotary latch to the closed position, in particular by the force of the pawl spring.
  • the pawl preferably rests against the locking element in the starting position.
  • Rotation of the pawl in a direction of rotation that is in the same direction as the pivoting direction of the rotary latch from the open position into the closed position is prevented or limited by the locking element.
  • the pawl cannot pass the stop, ie pass the stop in a direction of rotation that leads to the pivoting direction of the catch from the closed position in the opening position is rectified.
  • the shortest distance of the stop in its blocking position to the rotary latch pivot axis is smaller than the greatest distance of the pawl to the rotary latch pivot axis or smaller than the distance of the pawl to the rotary latch pivot axis when the pawl is in contact with the locking element.
  • the pawl can thus rest reliably against the stop, i.e. when the stop is in its blocking position.
  • the locking device comprises a manual and / or a motorized device for moving the stop, in particular from the blocking position, preferably into the release position.
  • a manual device it is sufficient to actuate an actuating lever, e.g. an internal actuating lever or an external actuating lever, in order to move the stop, in particular into the release position.
  • a motor e.g. a hydraulic, electric or pneumatic motor, provides the power for moving the stop, in particular to move the stop into the release position.
  • a high level of operating convenience can be achieved in this way. With manual and motorized equipment, there is improved safety in the event of a failure or defect in the engine.
