Definitions
- Cabins of cruise liners and other vessels usually have limited space and often have relatively small window openings, meaning that a longer stay in the cabin during the day offers little comfort.
- the present invention has for its object to provide an outer wall construction for cabins of watercraft, which provides more light and fresh air into the cabin as is known in conventional cabins.
- the object is achieved by an outer wall construction for cabins of watercraft with a first glass pane extending over the cabin width and the lower half of the cabin height and with a second glass pane at least approximately the same height, which is mounted so displaceably in rails on the side walls of the cabin in its uppermost position it seals the opening between the first glass pane and a cabin ceiling in a watertight manner and is arranged in its lowermost position parallel to the first glass pane and releases the opening above the first glass pane.
- This exterior wall construction when closed, provides a fully glazed opening to the water, ensuring optimal light and unobstructed view to the outside.
- conditions are achieved as in a loggia.
- the second pane of glass can also be locked between its top and bottom positions in any intermediate position, so that the desired air supply to the cabin can be easily controlled.
- outer wall construction is arranged on the outside of a balcony, with the side walls of the cabin extending to the outside of the balcony.
- a visually appealing appearance receives the outer wall construction, when the second glass pane is arranged in its uppermost position in the same plane as the first glass pane.
- a classic sliding window results in the closed state of the wall construction of the impression of a glass wall, which is interrupted at half height only by a thin frame part, which covers the top of the first glass.
- both glass panes are arranged in a frame which also contains the rails for the second glass pane, a very stable and easy to install outer wall construction results for the cabins of a watercraft.
- the second glass pane can preferably be moved back and forth between its uppermost and the lowest position by a motor and a chain drive.
- a control knob can be provided in the cabin. The guest can decide for himself whether and how far he wants to open the glazed outer wall of the cabin.
- a shaft of the motor can be connected to a hand crank.
- the rails for the second glass pane may expediently have a slotted guide with which the second glass pane in its uppermost position can first be moved out horizontally out of the plane of the first glass pane and then lowered.
- the horizontal movement of the second pane of glass also ensures that it is pressed against a seal and thus reliably prevents ingress of air or water through the closed outer wall construction.
- the second glass pane can be locked at least in its uppermost position. As a result, an unintentional change in the position of the second glass pane can be avoided, for example, by movements of the ship.
- the locking can be done mechanically or by a cylinder.
- the transparent outer wall construction may also be provided with a cleaning over the width of the glass sheets extending bar having a washing liquid and with the drive means for the second glass pane on the glass sheets in the vertical direction is movable away.
- the strip is hooked into the chain drive instead of the second glass pane, which is in its uppermost position. This cleaning can also be done by the guest himself.
- Fig. 1 shows an outer wall construction 10 with a frame 11, in which a first and lower glass pane 12 is firmly inserted. Above the glass pane 12, a second glass pane 13 in the frame 11 in the direction of the double arrow 14 is slidably disposed. In the in Fig. 1 In this case, the glass pane 13 is arranged in the same plane as the first glass pane 12. This results in a uniform transparent wall, which is interrupted only by a frame part 16, which includes the upper edge of the first glass pane 12.
- Fig. 2 shows the glass sheet 13 in its lowermost position in which it is parallel to the first glass sheet 12 and an opening 15 between an upper frame part 11.1 and the frame member 16 completely releases.
- a non-illustrated cabin of a watercraft which is provided with the outer wall construction 10 in the open state, forms a loggia.
- the outer wall construction can also be provided as the outer end of a balcony of the cabin. This has the advantage that the balcony space can be fully used for residential purposes and thus increases the space of the cabin.
- Fig. 3 the drive mechanism for the glass pane 13 is illustrated schematically. It is each with two guides 17 on each side in an in Fig. 4 shown rail 18 in the frame 11 out.
- the actual movement is caused by a motor 19 with brake, wherein the motor 19 is arranged in the frame part 11.1 in the middle above the glass pane 13.
- the motor shaft drives via a gear 20 on both sides guided in the frame 11 endless chains 21. With the endless chains 21 is one out Fig. 4 apparent drive plate 22 moves up or down.
- the drive plate 22 has at the top and at the bottom control cams 23 for bolts 24, which are connected to the glass pane 13.
- the cams 23 are substantially obliquely from bottom to top and thus ensure that when lowering the drive plate 22, the bolt 24 and thus the glass plate 13 first horizontally in the direction of arrow 25 and then down in correspondingly shaped guides 26, 27 in the Rail 18 to be moved. When lowering the glass pane 13, this is therefore first offset in a plane parallel to the plane of the first glass pane 12 and then moved down. As a result, it comes to lie in the open state parallel to the glass pane 12.
- the drive device for the glass pane 13 is merely exemplary.
- the drive could also be purely mechanical.
- the displacement of the plane of the glass sheet 13 is also not mandatory.
- the glass panes 12 and 13 could also be like in a classic sliding window in different levels.

Abstract
Description

Fig. 1 . -
- In
