Definitions
- Protective suits or jackets usually have a hood which serves to protect the head and neck area of the wearer of the hood.
- the hood may have a visual field opening.
- a neck opening is provided on the hood, wherein the hood when worn rests on the neck of the wearer or on a component of the protective clothing, such as on a collar.
- Object of the present invention is to provide a hood of the type mentioned, which is characterized by a high tightness or tightness of the transition between an opening of the hood and a piece of equipment, such as a protective mask, in particular with a highly contoured mask shape, the Neck of the wearer of the hood or a component of a worn to protect the wearer garment is distinguished, wherein the creation of a tight transition for the wearer should be possible in a simple manner.
- the outer sealing edge portion of the hood according to the invention adjoins a cover part of the hood made of a first hood material and has an elastically deformable bead-shaped thickening or is formed by an elastically deformable bead-shaped thickening, wherein the bead-shaped thickening encloses a filling material and at least on a in use against a piece of equipment, a body part or a portion of a garment adjacent the inside of a second hood material.
- a basic idea of the present invention is to provide an outer edge section of the hood delimiting the opening with an elastically deformable bead-shaped thickening which, on the one hand, encloses a filling material and, on the other hand, has a different hood material at least on the inside than the actual protective function of the head and Neck wielding cladding part of the hood.
- the bead-shaped thickening allows the outer edge portion to be easily and highly sealingly applied to a piece of equipment, a body portion or a portion of a garment, even with a highly textured surface of the item of equipment or garment.
- the thickening may have a more elastic, stretchable, non-slip, or tear-resistant second hood material compared to the first hood material.
- the second hood material in the region of the thickening is preferably made of a very elastic material, in particular of plastic, preferably of an elastomer, such as. As chloroprene rubber (neoprene) and butyl rubber.
- the first hood material which in particular forms the covering part, is preferably a material which avoids the penetration of toxic substances, in particular warfare agents, through the hood and / or also removes toxic substances which may have penetrated the hood.
- a textile adsorptive material can be used, as in the DE 103 27 994 A1 is described.
- the thickening has the second hood material only on the inner side facing the item of equipment, the neck or the adjacent portion of the garment in the wearing state, or, preferably, it is formed in the region of the inner side.
- the first hood material may be provided or form the thickening in these areas.
- the sealing edge portion of the hood according to the invention can be formed only by the thickening.
- the edge portion is formed by the thickening and a flat portion connected to the thickening.
- the flat section further enhances the high sealing effect of the edge section in the hood according to the invention.
- the flat portion may have, at least on the inside, the second hood material or, preferably, be formed by it.
- the first hood material which forms the envelope part of the hood, may also form part or regions of the sealing edge portion.
- an edge region of the hood of the first hood material may be connected to a trim strip of a second hood material and form the top of a hem of the hood. This seam is then to be understood as a "thickening" within the meaning of the invention.
- the lower or inner side of the hem is formed by the edge strip of a second hood material, wherein the edge strip can extend over a hem connecting seam between the edge region of the hood and the edge strip out into the opening of the hood and then a flat portion forms, with the exception of the attachment via the connecting seam is not firmly connected to the edge region of the hood and rests freely against the hood from the inside.
- the edge portion may also be formed as a piping with a Kederwulst, which encloses the filling material and forms a "thickening" in the context of the invention, and with a Kederfahne as a flat portion.
- the piping is a self-contained sealing element which is connected to the wrapping part.
- a connection between an outer edge of the envelope part of the hood and a front end side of the Kederwulstes and / or a transition region of the welt between Kederwulst and Kederfahne be provided so that the Kederwulst and the Kederfahne abut the entire surface against the enveloping part and outwardly from the wrapping part are covered.
- the hood may be an integral part of a protective garment, in particular sewn thereto or integrally formed therewith, or it may be detachably connectable to a garment, for example via a zipper or a Velcro connection. A high tightness of the connection between the hood and the garment is to be ensured.
- the outer edge portion and thus the thickening can substantially completely circumscribe the opening.
- the hood can have two ends which can be connected to each other via a zipper, Velcro or the like and thereby form a visual field or neck opening of the hood.
- the circumferential thickening and / or the flat portion may have on the against the protective mask, the neck or the portion of the protective clothing inside a smooth, flat and little textured surface to ensure a close fit of the hood in the edge region.
- Fig. 1 shows a hood 1 according to the invention for a garment, in particular for protective and / or military purposes, such as ABC protective suit or the like.
- the hood 1 has a visual field opening 2 for receiving a in the 6 and 7 shown protective mask 3.
- the hood 1 has a neck opening 4 for receiving the neck of a wearer of the hood 1 or for receiving a portion of protective clothing, such as a collar or the like.

- the wrapping part 7 has two ends 7a, 7b which, connected to one another, form the openings 2, 4.
- the wrapping part 7 of the hood 1 is in the wearing state against the head and neck of the wearer and forms the actual protective surface of the hood. 1
- each outer edge section 5, 6 has an elastically deformable bead-shaped thickening 8 and a flat section 9.
- the thickening 9 preferably forms an outer edge of the hood 1 and limits the opening 2, 4.
- the outer edge portion 5, 6 may also have a non-illustrated the thickening 8 upstream further flat portion which forms the actual outer edge of the hood 1. In principle, it is also possible that the thickening 8 alone forms the sealing edge section 5, 6 and no flat section 9 is provided.
