Definitions

  • the invention relates to a substantially circular closure seal for closing a container, which has a secondary seal and below it a primary seal with a circular surface (F) with a radius (R) for sticking to the edge of a container opening, the primary seal and the secondary seal being by a Separating layer are releasably connected to one another, the secondary direction being adapted to the shape of the primary seal, the primary seal having at least one tab extending in the radial direction.
  • a corresponding closure seal is from the U.S. 5,637,396 known.
  • the circular area corresponds to the circular area defined by the outer radius of a corresponding container opening. Only with respect to the closure seal itself, more precisely related to the primary seal, the circular area is that which can be projected onto the primary seal and has a maximum radius without protruding over the edge of the primary seal. That is to say, according to the prior art, the circular area or its periphery corresponds completely to the area of the primary seal or its edge.
  • the invention also relates to a combination of a substantially circular closure seal, a closure with a circumferential closure jacket and a head plate, the closure jacket having on its inside near the head plate at least one projection extending inward in the radial direction and the closure seal between the projection and the Head plate is arranged, as well as a container closable by the screw cap with a circular container opening, the container opening having an outer diameter d and the closure lid between the projection and the top plate having an inner diameter D, the closure seal being a secondary seal and below a primary seal for sticking to the edge of the container opening, the primary seal and the secondary seal being releasably connected to one another by a separating layer.
  • a separating layer is z. B. provided a polymer release liner that can be inexpensively manufactured and is suitable for use with food or pharmaceuticals.
  • closure seals are known and are used, among other things, to close containers for food, chemicals or medicines.
  • the closure seal with its primary seal facing the container is applied to the edge of the container opening after the container has been filled in order to protect the contents of the container from manipulation or other environmental influences, in particular from unwanted oxygen or air humidity.
  • an unintentional detachment of the closure seal is prevented, for example, in that the primary seal is placed on the upper edge of the container opening, for example.
  • B. is glued by means of inductive heating with a heat seal adhesive.
  • the secondary seal z. B separated by unscrewing a cap from the primary seal and the primary seal removed from the container opening, the secondary seal is used to seal the container opening when the container is closed again.
  • the secondary seal held between the projection or bead and the head plate is pressed onto the upper edge of the container opening when the screw cap is screwed on, so that it is sealed.
  • the degree of sealing depends on the material of the secondary seal and the contact pressure.
  • the individual material webs for the secondary seal, the separating layer and the primary seal are laminated to form a material web composite. In a further step, the closure seals are punched out of the material web composite.
  • the material webs for known primary seals typically in turn have a PET layer, an aluminum layer and a heat seal adhesive arranged one on top of the other in this order, wherein the aluminum layer can be printed or can have a printed film layer.
  • the imprint or the printed film layer is used primarily for marketing purposes or is used to depict consumer information.
  • the material web for the secondary seal often consists of a chromo cardboard or a sandwich-like of two polypropylene layers, short PP layer, limited polyethylene foam layer, short PE foam layer. The pores of the foam layer are closed with the PP layers in such a way that no product particles and / or impurities or germs can settle in them.
  • the punched-out closure seals are introduced into the screw cap of a container with the secondary seal first, the closure seal being pressed against the top plate and thereby between the projection which, for. B. can have the shape of a bead extending at least in sections in the circumferential direction or also consists of several separate projections distributed along the inner circumference of the closure jacket, and the top plate of the screw closure is arranged.
  • the diameter of the closure seal is at least partially larger than the free inner diameter of the closure shell defined by the protrusion (s), so that the corresponding radially outer sections of the closure seal in the radial area between the inner diameter D of the closure shell and the free inner diameter defined by the protrusion (s) Diameter of the sealing jacket.
  • the projection or bead thus holds the closure seal in place and accordingly prevents the closure seal from accidentally falling out when the screw cap is screwed onto the container.
  • the closure seal with the primary seal facing the container is pressed onto the upper edge of a circular container opening by the axial movement resulting from the rotating screwing movement.
  • the primary seal is then glued to the edge of the container opening by means of inductive heat sealing. The result is an airtight and moisture-tight seal of the container opening.
  • the rotary movement and the force resulting therefrom in the direction of the top plate separate the primary seal along the separating layer from the secondary seal.
  • the secondary seal remains in the screw cap between the projection or bead and the top plate, while the primary seal continues to reliably close the container opening.
  • the closure seal can be cut, pierced and then peeled off. After the primary seal has been pierced or cut, the container opening is completely or partially exposed by cutting or tearing it open. The piercing or cutting of the primary seal generally requires the use of a tool and is therefore cumbersome.
  • the primary seal is forcibly destroyed by pressing in with the bare fingers or fingernails, the primary seal often only gives in under great force and is therefore uncontrolled.
  • the fingers used to open it can dip into the product or the container can be knocked over due to the jerky movement when the primary seal gives way and the product can escape unintentionally.
  • Puncturing or cutting the primary seal with a tool also harbors the risk of the container contents underneath being damaged or contaminated by the tool used, e.g. knife or scissors.
  • residues of the cut or torn primary seal often stick to the edge of the container opening, which have a disruptive effect when the product is removed.
  • the primary seal can consist of two layers that are only half firmly glued together so that the non-glued half of the top layer can serve as a tab that can be used to peel off the primary seal.
  • a tab effectively has two diametrically opposed attachment points or detachment points from the container opening, which requires a relatively large amount of force when detaching it.
  • the object is achieved according to the invention by an essentially circular closure seal with the features of claim 1 and by a combination with the features of claim 9.
  • the solution according to the invention comprises an essentially circular closure seal with the features mentioned at the beginning, the primary seal having at least one tab extending in the radial direction, the protrusion of which over the circular surface (F) in the radial direction between 1 mm and 5 mm, preferably between 2 mm and 4 mm.
  • the object is also achieved in that the primary seal has at least one tab extending in the radial direction, the protrusion of which in the radial direction is a minimum of 1 mm and a maximum of half the amount of the difference between the outer diameter d of the container opening and the inner diameter D des Closing jacket corresponds.
  • a tab with such a protrusion in the radial direction makes it possible after the closure cap has been unscrewed and the secondary seal has been separated off as a result a simple and secure gripping of the tab from the primary seal, so that the primary seal as a whole can be detached from the upper edge of the container opening.
  • the size of the protrusion ensures that the tab of the primary seal, together with the corresponding parts of the secondary seal in the screw cap, extends radially into the area between the projection or bead and the top plate, which causes the tab to bend over when the closure seal is inserted and thus inadvertent sticking of the tab to the remaining primary sealing surface during heat sealing is also effectively avoided.
  • the secondary seal completely covers the primary seal including the tab. This is advantageous because the secondary seal supports the tab during the introduction of the closure seal into the screw cap and thus effectively prevents undesired deformations of the closure seal, in particular bending of the tab.
  • the secondary seal is precisely matched to the shape of the primary seal.
  • Such closure seals can be produced with less material loss when punching out of a material web, since the closure seals can be arranged close to one another on the material web by the tab (s) of a closure seal protruding into the area outside a tab or between tabs of an adjacent closure seal.
  • the primary seal has a plurality of protruding tabs arranged along the circumference of the closure seal at equal angular intervals.
  • the plurality of tabs makes it easier to detach the primary seal in any orientation of the primary seal.
  • the primary seal can also continue to be detached from the container opening with the aid of the remaining tabs if individual tabs tear off due to incorrect operation or excessive pulling.
  • the primary seal has four tabs arranged along the circumference of the closure seal at equal angular intervals.
  • the four tabs allow access for opening or detaching the primary seal from four sides distributed at equal angular intervals over the circumferential edge of the closure seal, which are immediately visible to the consumer after opening a container.
  • the at least one tab is a ring section running around the center point of the closure seal directly outside the circular area.
  • the tab extends with a protrusion around the arc like a circle circular area of the closure seal or the primary seal.
  • the contact surface for the detachment of the primary seal can also extend sufficiently far (for example up to 270 °) in the circumferential direction, whereby a correspondingly large contact surface is achieved with a small radial expansion.
  • the at least one tab preferably extends in the circumferential direction over an angular segment between 10 ° and 60 °, preferably between 20 ° and 45 °.
  • the tabs extend in the circumferential direction of the essentially circular primary sealing surface over a length of 5 mm to 60 mm.
  • a tab that extends over such an angular segment or a length of 5 mm to 60 mm in the circumferential direction ensures that the tensile force applied to detach the primary seal is distributed over the angular segment or the relevant circumferential section and any shear force peaks at the transition between the tab and the primary sealing surface can be largely avoided.
  • Such tabs can be easily gripped and thus make it easier to detach the primary seal from the container opening.
  • One embodiment of the secondary seal consists of a material that is thicker and stiffer than the primary seal.
  • the secondary seal is a chromo board, which is preferably 0.75 mm thick.
  • Chromo cardboard is inexpensive to manufacture, environmentally friendly and has a high degree of rigidity with a low density.
  • the secondary seal is a sandwich-like foam layer made of PE or PP, delimited by two polymer layers (for example made of PP, PE or PET), which has a density between 150 and 500 kg / m 3 and the total thickness of the secondary seal is at most 3, 0 mm and a minimum of 0.5 mm.
  • PE foam layer with such a density and material thickness, a layer thickness of the elastic sealing material that is sufficient to seal the container opening is achieved.
  • the heat-sealing adhesive is applied with an areal density between 5 and 65 g / m 2 , for example 25 g / m 2 .
  • the aluminum layer is between 10 and 50 ⁇ m, preferably 20 ⁇ m, and at the same time thicker than the adjacent PET and hot-melt adhesive layers.
  • a 20 ⁇ m thick aluminum layer has sufficient stability with a low weight, this aluminum layer being given an improved tear resistance due to the additionally applied PET layer.
  • the PET layer is 12 ⁇ m thick.
  • the secondary seal is circular, the primary seal having an additionally attached tab in addition to its circular surface, the radius corresponding to the distance between the closure seal center and the radially outer tab edge of the primary seal.
  • the secondary seal is designed to be continuously circular, the at least one tab of the primary seal lying completely within the circle of the secondary seal and the circular primary seal also being completely supported by the secondary seal, but the primary seal in the areas outside the tab (s) protrudes radially.
  • Such a configuration simplifies the introduction of the closure seal into a screw cap.
  • a circular secondary seal introduced into a screw cap in the space between the projection or bead ensures homogeneous support of the secondary seal on the inside of the closure jacket near the top plate.
  • the closure seal has the aforementioned features in combination with a closure cover and a container that can be closed by the closure cover.
  • the closure cap can be a screw cap, a so-called inverted cap or a snap closure and has a top plate and an at least approximately cylindrical jacket with at least one radially inwardly protruding projection or a bead on its inside behind which initially the entire seal and after separation between the primary seal and secondary seal only the latter can be kept. If the closure cap is not a screw cap, the closure jacket does not necessarily have to be be cylindrical, but only has to be suitable for securely holding the seal or the secondary seal behind one or more projections or a bead.
  • Figure 1 is a schematic view of a closure seal 1 not according to the invention, which is designed essentially circular in plan view.
  • the closure seal 1 has a secondary seal 2 and, underneath, a separating layer 7 made of a polymer.
  • the primary seal 3 is detachably connected to the secondary seal 2 by the separating layer 7.
  • the primary seal 3 also has a tab 8 which extends in the radial direction and whose protrusion in the radial direction is 2 to 3 mm.
  • the secondary seal 2 is adapted to the shape of the primary seal 3, so that both the separating layer 7 and the secondary seal 2 also have a tab.
  • the tab 8 and the circular area F of the primary seal 3 which are only in the Figures 2 and 4th exemplary and is highlighted for illustration by hatching, completely covered by the secondary seal 2. All layers of the closure seal 1 are thus congruent to one another.
  • the tab 8 of the closure seal 1 is a ring section arranged around the center point of a circular surface F, so that the outer contour of the tab 8 is designed in the shape of an arc of a circle.
  • the circular area F is thus defined in all embodiments by the circular area with a maximum radius that can be projected onto the primary seal and thus does not cover the tab (s), but all areas lying radially within the tab (s).
  • FIG. 2 a schematic plan view of a closure seal 1 according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown.
  • the closure seal 1 has four tabs 8 which are arranged along the circumference of the closure seal at equal angular distances from one another. Each of these tabs 8 can be used to detach the primary seal 3 from a container opening. As a result of this homogeneous distribution of the tabs 8, it can also be achieved that the primary seal 3 can be detached from a container opening alternately from several directions.
  • the tabs 9 are designed in the shape of an arc of a ring around the center point of the closure seal 1 and each extend over an angular segment of 60 °.
  • the tabs 8 extend in the radial direction around z. B. 2.5 mm beyond the substantially circular closure sealing surface.
  • the Figure 3 shows a perspective view of a closure seal 1 of the present invention with two tabs 8 which are arranged diametrically opposite and along the circumference of the closure seal.
  • the protrusion of the tabs 8 extending in the radial direction over the essentially circular closure sealing surface is 3 mm, with the secondary seal 2 and the separating layer 7 being designed essentially circular in this embodiment and completely covering the primary seal 3. Due to the essentially circular shape of the secondary seal 2 and the separating layer 7, these also define peripheral sections on the edge of the closure seal 1, under which no primary seal 3 is arranged.
  • the continuously circular shape of the secondary seal 2 enables the closure seal 1 to be easily centered in a screw cap and also helps to support the secondary seal 2 evenly over the entire circumference of the closure seal 1 against the inner closure surface and a radial projection or bead thereof.
  • FIG 4 a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention with four tabs 8 is shown.
  • the essentially circular closure seal 1 has a secondary seal 2 and, underneath, a separating layer 7 and a primary seal 3.
  • the secondary seal 2 is a polyethylene foam layer bounded in a sandwich-like manner by two polypropylene layers 10, the PE foam layer having a density of between 150 and 500 kg / m 3 , e.g. B has 300 kg / m 3 and the secondary seal has a thickness between 3 and 0.5 mm.
  • the primary seal 3 has a polyethylene terephthalate layer 4 with a thickness of 12 ⁇ m, a layer with an imprint 11, an aluminum layer 5 with a thickness of 20 ⁇ m and a heat seal adhesive 6 in this order.
  • the amount of heat seal adhesive 6 applied is 25 g / m 2 .
  • All layers of the closure seal 1 are congruent to one another, so that the secondary seal 2 and the separating layer 7 are adapted to the shape of the primary seal 3.
  • the tabs 8 are arranged along the circumference of the closure seal at the same angular intervals and extend in the radial direction beyond the circular surface F of the closure seal 1.
  • the protrusion of the tabs 8 extending in the radial direction is z. B. 4 mm.
  • FIG 5 is a schematic representation of a combination, not according to the invention, of a closure seal 1, a screw cap 13 and a container 12, the body of the container 12 only being shown incompletely.
  • the screw cap 13 has a closure jacket 14 and a head plate 15, the closure jacket 14 near the head plate 15 on the inside having a bead 16 extending at least in sections in the circumferential direction, which is indicated in the drawing with a dashed line.
  • the closure seal 1 is arranged between the bead 16 and the head plate 15. After sealing the container opening 17 and unscrewing the screw cap 13 for the first time, the secondary seal 2 and the separating layer 7 remain in the screw cap 13, while the primary seal 3 continues to close the container opening 17.
  • the diameter of the essentially circular closure seal 1 is adapted to the outer diameter of the container opening d, so that the circular surface F of the primary seal 3 completely closes the container opening 17. So that the primary seal 3 with the applied heat-seal adhesive 6 can be glued to the upper edge of the container opening 19, the diameter of the essentially circular primary sealing surface F corresponds to the Outside diameter of the container opening 17, ie with the upper edge 19 of the container opening 17.
  • the tab 8 extending in the radial direction and over a circumferential section has a radial projection which corresponds to half the amount of the difference between the inner diameter D of the screw cap 13 and the outer diameter d of the container opening 17. Since the secondary seal 2 is not adapted to the shape of the primary seal 3 in this case, but rather forms a larger circle, which corresponds to the inner diameter D of the closure jacket directly below the top plate and above the bead, the secondary seal can be placed between the bead 16 and the top plate 15 of the screw cap 13 can be arranged. The bead 16 prevents the secondary seal 2 from accidentally falling out, the secondary seal 2 and the separating layer 7 being arranged between the bead 16 and the top plate 15.
  • the tab 8 extending in the radial direction can initially also be arranged with the secondary seal 2 between the bead 16 and the head plate 15 without the tab 8 being bent and extending over the bead 16 or partially over the thread 18.
  • the primary seal 3 can be gripped by the tab 8 and detached as a whole from the container opening 17 by the application of a tensile force.
