Definitions
- the present invention relates to a mixing device, a discharge device equipped with such a mixing device, and a method for producing a mixture of flowable components.
- the task arises of producing and discharging a mixture of a plurality of flowable components in a predetermined mixing ratio.
- An example is the preparation of an adhesive for technical or medical applications, e.g. an epoxy adhesive or a fibrin-based medical adhesive, of two or more components.
- Another example is the production of a multi-component bone cement. In such systems, the cure time can be very short, and the product must therefore be discharged immediately after mixing.
- discharge devices are known from the state of the art, in which two components to be mixed are stored in a double syringe with two syringe containers, two outlets and two syringe pistons connected to one another or are sucked into such a double syringe shortly before application.
- a mixing device with two inlet channels is then placed, which connect to the outlets of the double syringe.
- the inlet channels open into a mixing channel, in which there is a static mixing element, usually in the form of a mixing helix with helically arranged mixing blades.
- the two Components from the syringe containers passed into the mixing device, where they are mixed together and immediately discharged afterwards.
- a discharge device is for example from the WO 2006/005205 known.
- the GB 1 423 933 discloses a mixing device for industrial applications, in which the mixing effect for two components to be mixed is improved by two pairs of mixing channels are arranged in pairs with parallel arranged mixing elements. The outlets of the two mixing channels are brought together in one chamber. This chamber in turn opens into two parallel mixing channels, which are arranged with respect to the flow direction offset by 90 ° to the previous two mixing channels. This arrangement is repeated several times.
- the second mixing channel then opens directly or indirectly into the outlet channel of the mixing device.
- a flow-through mixing device which, seen in the flow direction, has at least two flow mixers connected downstream of one another. At least two components, which are mixed in this continuous mixer, are fed to the first continuous mixer. Thereafter, at least one further component (which itself may also be an intermediate product) is added to the resulting intermediate product in the second continuous mixer.
- the terms "direct” and “indirect” are to be understood as follows. One channel “flows” directly into another channel if there is no other mixer between these channels. One channel “flows” indirectly into another channel if there is another mixer between the channels, and especially if still in the other mixer additional components are added.
- the components should be generally fluid. This includes liquid, viscous and powdery, possibly also gaseous components.
- the components may all be different, but two or more components may be identical.
- the components supplied through the second and third inlet channels are identical, so that only the mixing ratio is changed between the first and the second mixer.
- the third intake port may branch off from the second intake port.
- At least the first and the second inlet channel, preferably also the third inlet channel preferably each have a connection element for a container. This can be done in any known manner, e.g. as a male or female luer connector, be trained. It is also conceivable to form a common connection element for all three or more channels. In this case, each inlet channel has a connection area, which is designed for connection to a container. In order to facilitate the connection, at least the first and the second inlet channel, preferably also the third inlet channel, can run parallel to one another in the region of the connection elements.
- the first, second and third inlet channels can be arranged substantially in a common plane in the region of the connecting elements, but can also be arranged, for example, in a common plane.
- the terminals may be coded, i. be configured differently, so that with each port only a corresponding complementary port of a suitable container can be connected, or designed and arranged so that the mixing device is connectable only in a very specific position with a suitable container arrangement.
- the mixing elements in the mixing channels can be any static or dynamic mixing elements, as they are known per se.
- the first and / or second mixing element are static mixing elements.
- Such mixing elements have been known for a long time. You can e.g. a helix with multiple helical blades or blades arranged thereon.
- the mixing device further comprises a third mixing channel with at least one mixing element arranged therein and a fourth inlet channel.
- the third inlet channel and the fourth inlet channel then open into the third mixing channel, and the third mixing channel opens directly or indirectly into the second mixing channel.
- the invention also relates to a discharge device comprising a mixing device of the type described above.
- the dispensing apparatus further comprises at least first and second containers, each container having a container outlet, and wherein the container outlet of the first container having the first inlet channel and the container outlet of the second container the second inlet channel is connectable.
- any containers can be used, for example, syringes, cartridges (ie container with cylindrical wall portion, which are closed at one end by a septum and at the other end by a sliding piston), bags, tubes, etc.
- the containers can in a common Cartridge housed or otherwise connected to each other and form a single container unit.
- the container unit is configured as a whole connectable with the mixing device.
- the inlet channels of the mixing device and the container outlets of the containers preferably have mutually corresponding connection elements or connection regions, which are configured and / or arranged such that the container outlet of the first container is connectable only to the first inlet channel and the container outlet of the second container only can be connected to the second inlet channel.
- the discharge device also preferably has at least one discharge element in order to discharge the components from the containers and to dispense them through the container outlets.
- the Austragselement is then usually manually operated. If the containers are e.g. are formed syringe- or carpule-shaped, this is e.g. one piston rod for each container. In contrast, if the containers are e.g. bag-shaped or tube-shaped, the Austragsieri can also assume completely different forms. If a plurality of dispensing elements are present, they are preferably connected to a common actuating element in order to enable simultaneous dispensing of the components from the containers by manual actuation of the actuating element.
- each of the containers is syringe-shaped with a syringe body having a cylindrical wall region and a piston displaceable in the syringe body.
- the syringe bodies can then be rigidly connected together to form a multiple syringe, and the pistons can be rigidly connected to each other to ensure a common discharge from the syringes.
- the quantities that are processed with such a mixing and discharging device are normally small and range from about one to a few hundred milliliters.
- the containers normally have a volume of less than about 300 ml each.
- the dimensions of the mixing device in each dimension usually reach at most about 30 cm, typically even less than 15 cm.
- the cross-section of the mixing channels is typically less than about 5 cm 2 .
- This method can be used as an operating method for a device of the type described above. Art be configured, but can also be performed with different types of devices.
- FIGS. 1a and 1b is very schematically a discharge device shown in longitudinal section.
- the discharge device comprises a container unit in the form of a multiple syringe 200 (here a triple syringe) with three rigidly connected containers 210, 220 and 230 in the form of syringe bodies, which are closed by pistons 214, 224, 234.
- the containers are arranged side by side in a common plane in the present example, but may also have a different arrangement.
- the containers may have the same or, as in the present example, different cross-sections and thus also different volumes.
- Each syringe body has a cylindrical jacket wall 211, 221, 231 and a cover wall 212, 222, 232 delimiting the syringe body in the distal direction, in each of which a container outlet 213, 223, 233 is formed.
- a piston 214, 224, 234 is inserted into each syringe body, which piston is designed to be sealing towards the jacket wall.
- a piston rod 215, 225, 235 is connected.
- the piston rods are rigidly connected to one another at their proximal end via a common actuating element 240, here in the form of an actuating flange.
- a mixing device 100 is attached.
- the mixing device has three inlet channels 110, 120, 130, the proximal end regions of which run parallel to one another and, in the present example, as connections 111, 121, 131 (FIG. Fig. 1b ) are designed to be plugged onto the multiple syringe 200.
- the connections are shown only very schematically.
- various types of connections conceivable, for example, standardized Luer connections with the usual truncated cone-shaped contact surfaces and with or without locking nut (Luer-Lock).
- connections are coded, ie designed so that the mixing device can be placed on the multiple syringe only in a very specific position, eg by choosing different diameters of the connections or specific combinations of male and female connections.
- connections and codings are possible which have a defined connection between the outlet of each container and the allow associated inlet channel.
- the first inlet channel 110 and the second inlet channel 120 open into a first mixing channel 141.
- the two inlet channels 110, 120 In front of the inlet region 143 of the mixing channel 141, the two inlet channels 110, 120 converge toward one another at an acute angle; but it is also possible that the two inlet channels are brought together in another way, e.g. parallel to each other or annularly surrounding, etc .; the exact way in which the inlet channels are merged is not essential to the basic operation of the mixing device.
- a static mixing element 142 which forms a first continuous mixer 140 together with the mixing channel 141.
- the mixing element is designed in the usual manner as a mixing helix, wherein the helix has a plurality of helical mixing blades arranged one behind the other, which divide, divert and reunite the volume flow passing through the mixing channel several times in order to achieve a good and as homogeneous as possible mixing of the mixture.
- Such mixing helices are known per se for a long time, and the exact nature of the mixing element is not essential to the basic operation of the mixing device.
- a movable, externally driven mixing element e.g. a rotatable mixing element come into consideration.
- the first mixing channel 141 opens into the inlet region 153 of a second mixing channel 151 with a static mixing element 152.
- the second mixing channel 151 and the second mixing element 152 together form a second continuous mixer 150.
- This may be identical or different from the first mixer 140 and have the same or different dimensions, in particular length; the exact structure is again not essential to the basic operation of the mixing device.
- the third inlet channel 130 runs in a feed section 132 parallel to the first mixing channel 141 and also opens into the inlet region 153 of the second mixing channel 151 with a distal mouth region 133. Again, the merging of the outlet region 144 of the first mixing channel 140 and the mouth region 133 of the first mixing channel third inlet channel 130 in any known manner.
- the outlet channel 101 of the mixing device 100 directly adjoins the outlet region 154 of the second mixing channel 151 or is formed by this outlet region 154.
- the outlet channel 101 may be provided with attachment means for attachment of an accessory, e.g. with a Luerkonus for attaching a spray device or other accessory, or may itself be formed in any form, e.g. fan-shaped for the areal spreading of the mixed product.
- the exact design of the outlet is not essential for the basic operation of the mixing device.
- the mixing device 100 is attached to the multiple syringe.
- the three pistons 214, 224 and 234 are advanced to the same extent so that the components in the containers pass through the outlets 213, 223, 233 of the containers into the inlet channels 110, 120, 130 of the mixing device.
- the components from the first two containers 210, 220 are combined and mixed in the first mixer 140.
- the resulting intermediate product exits the first mixer 140 and is combined with the third component from the container 230 and mixed in the second mixer 150.
- the resulting product is then discharged through the outlet channel 101.
- Such a mixing device can be used advantageously everywhere where several components are to be selectively mixed with each other in a targeted manner.
- One example is the production of a bone cement from two components known per se, to which an active substance, for example a growth factor or an antibiotic, is to be mixed.
- the two cement components are in this case supplied through the first and second inlet channels and mixed in the first mixer, while the active ingredient is supplied through the second inlet channel and mixed in the second mixer.
- Another example is for example two components of an adhesive system (eg two monomers), which are first mixed in the first mixer and then in second mixer with a catalyst and / or promoter are mixed.
- Another application may be to selectively influence the viscosity of a mixture by admixing a component through the third inlet channel.
- Many other applications are conceivable in which, for chemical or physical reasons, a particular order of mixing is necessary or desirable.
- the components in the second and third containers are identical, so that first the component from the first container in the first mixer with a smaller amount of the other component is mixed before the final mixing ratio is set in the second mixer.
- the third inlet channel is not connected to a separate container, but in which the second container opens with its outlet both in the second inlet channel and in the third inlet channel, these inlet channels in the region of their proximal ends are therefore connected or branch off from a common inlet.
- a "bypass" of a part of the component from the second container past the first mixer is also conceivable that the components in the second and third containers are identical, so that first the component from the first container in the first mixer with a smaller amount of the other component is mixed before the final mixing ratio is set in the second mixer.
- the three pistons can also be advanced independently or in an adjustable feed ratio.
- the mixing device can of course be used with differently constructed containers.
- Such containers may e.g. be: a cartridge containing a plurality of containers and from which via an integrated or independent actuator discharge takes place; a tube assembly; a bag system with flexible bags as a container, etc. It is only essential that each container has an outlet and that at least one discharge element is present, which is operable so that upon actuation, a discharge of the contents out of the container through the outlet.
- all containers form a common unit.
- FIG. 2 Another embodiment of a mixing device is in the Fig. 2 shown. Same or equivalent parts have the same reference numerals as in FIGS. 1a and 1b designated.
- This mixing device 100 has four inlet channels 110, 120, 130 and 170. The first two channels 110, 120 open into a first mixer 140. As in the previous embodiment, this mixer is followed by a second mixer downstream. The other two channels 130, 170 open into a third mixer 160 with mixing channel 161 and mixing element 162. The outlet regions of the first and the third mixer open together into the second mixer.
- each mixer comprises a mixing channel and a mixing element arranged therein.
- two components may again be identical, e.g. the components entering through the inlet channels 121 and 131. Accordingly, these channels can also branch off from a common inlet. While here a linear arrangement of the connections of the mixing device is shown, any other arrangement is possible. Again, the connections can be designed so that they can be connected only in a very specific way with a corresponding multiple container.
- a three-stage sequential mixing operation may also be provided in which at least three mixers connected in series in the flow direction are present and after each mixer a further component (which in turn may be the intermediate product from a preceding mixing operation) is admixed. So it can be individual Mixers are combined in largely any topologies. Each individual mixer can also be designed to mix not only two components but also three or more components with each other in a single step.

Description
- mindestens einen ersten und einen zweiten Einlasskanal für die zu mischenden Komponenten;
- einen in Strömungsrichtung zwischen den Einlasskanälen und dem Auslasskanal angeordneten ersten Mischkanal mit mindestens einem darin angeordneten Mischelement, wobei der erste und der zweite Einlasskanal direkt oder indirekt in den ersten Mischkanal münden;
- Durchleiten einer ersten und einer zweiten Komponente durch einen ersten Mischkanal mit mindestens einem darin angeordneten Mischelement, um die erste und die zweite Komponente miteinander zu einem ersten Zwischenprodukt zu vermischen;
- Fig. 1a
- eine stark schematische Darstellung einer Austragsvorrichtung mit Mischvorrichtung gemäss einer ersten Ausführungsform im Längsschnitt;

- eine vergrösserte Darstellung der Mischvorrichtung der
Fig. 1a ; sowie - Fig. 2
Fig. 2 dargestellt.
