  • the values of these set points might change for different treatment plants as they take into account different operational variables (e.g. mixed liquor characteristics, wastewater temperature) that are known to be site related.

  • the systems were operated at a mixed liquor suspended solids concentration of around 10 g/l.
  • the membrane aeration frequency factor was set at 0.25 (10 seconds on and 30 second off) during permeation and relaxation; a coarse air bubble flow rate of 8 scfm per gap was used.

  • the control hierarchy gives a higher preference to other operational changes such as the decrease of the aeration frequency factor or aeration flow and the increase of the permeation cycle duration, these changes were difficult to implement due to intrinsic limitations of the MBR system in this example.

  • the resistance after backwash for both permeation cycles will be calculated based on the average of the first five values that comply with the valid permeation cycle conditions. As it can be observed from the above table; for the first permeation cycle the values prior to 0:10:20 do not meet these requirements and consequently cannot be used for this calculation. The values corresponding from 0:10:20 to 0:10:40 are the first five values that comply with these conditions. For the second permeation cycle the same procedure is used.

  • Figure 4 presents the long term results obtained from testing using a system similar to that above except that dR/dT was not used as a VPC condition and A.F.F. was the only controlled parameter.
  • Figure 3 shows the net permeate flux with the obtained cake resistance for each permeation cycle along with the values of the sustainable and optimized cake resistance, respectively.
  • frequent peak flux events were simulated by increasing the net permeate flux from 16 up to 26 gfd. These peak flux events were performed to assess the sensitivity of the on-line process control system when faced with operational disturbances.

Claims (7)

  1. Procédé de traitement d'eau, qui est un procédé de commande de processus en ligne utilisant un modèle de résistances en série, le procédé de traitement d'eau comprenant les étapes consistant à :
    a) fournir un système de traitement d'eau (10) ayant une unité de membrane immergée dans un réservoir, l'unité de membrane ayant des membranes filtrantes pour retirer le perméat filtré de l'eau en cours de traitement, ledit système de traitement d'eau (10) comprenant également un ou plusieurs collecteurs de données (12) et un dispositif de commande (14), et le système de traitement d'eau pouvant opérer selon deux ou plusieurs modes discrets de fonctionnement, les modes de fonctionnement différant dans leur effet sur l'encrassement des membranes, dans lequel les modes de fonctionnement diffèrent l'un de l'autre par rapport à un ou plusieurs a) d'un régime de lavage à contre-courant, b) d'un régime de perméation, c) d'un régime de nettoyage à l'air, d) d'un régime de nettoyage chimique des membranes ou e) d'un régime de renforcement de la capacité de filtration des boues ;
    b) commander le système de traitement d'eau (10) dans l'un des modes de fonctionnement dans chacune d'une pluralité de périodes de temps ;
    c) recueillir avec les un ou plusieurs collecteurs de données (12) des données se rapportant à plus d'une résistance des membranes et calculer avec ledit dispositif de commande (14) en utilisant le modèle de résistances en série les valeurs de plus d'une résistance des membranes de temps à autre tout en faisant fonctionner le traitement d'eau (10) et en surveillant ces résistances ;
    d) considérer les valeurs de la plus d'une résistance en choisissant le mode de fonctionnement pendant une ou plusieurs des périodes de temps ;
    dans lequel le modèle de résistances en série est un modèle dans lequel la résistance totale à la filtration est représentée comme une combinaison d'un certain nombre de résistances individuelles et dans lequel l'étape d) comprend :
    i) l'établissement d'un premier groupe de points de consigne et d'un seconde groupe différent de points de consigne ;
    ii) la comparaison des différentes résistances qui sont surveillées à l'encontre des points de consigne respectifs afin d'effectuer des changements adéquats au mode de fonctionnement ;
    iii) lorsque l'une quelconque des valeurs des résistances surveillées est plus élevée que l'un quelconque des premiers points de consigne correspondants qui représentent des valeurs de résistance maximales auxquelles le système doit fonctionner, le mode de fonctionnement est choisi pour être un mode de retrait d'encrassement afin de réduire l'encrassement des membranes ;
    iv) lorsque l'une quelconque des valeurs des résistances surveillées se situent entre le premier et le second point de consigne, le mode de fonctionnement n'est pas modifié ; et,
    v) lorsque toutes les valeurs des résistances surveillées sont inférieures aux seconds points de consigne correspondants, le mode de fonctionnement est choisi pour être un mode d'économie d'énergie afin de mener à des économies d'énergie.
  2. Procédé selon la revendication 1, dans lequel les deux ou plusieurs modes discrets de fonctionnement diffèrent dans le rapport du temps dans lequel les membranes sont nettoyées à l'air au temps dans lequel les membranes ne sont pas nettoyées à l'air.
  3. Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la plus d'une résistance comprend des paramètres choisis dans le groupe de (a) la résistance à l'encrassement par adsorption, (b) la résistance à la formation d'un gâteau ou (c) à un changement au fil du temps de la résistance totale après lavage au reflux.
  4. Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel les modes de fonctionnement diffèrent au moins par rapport au régime de nettoyage à l'air et la plus d'une résistance comprend la résistance à la formation d'un gâteau.
  5. Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel des changements du mode de fonctionnement sont effectués en suivant une hiérarchie de changements de procédé disponibles.
  6. Système de traitement d'eau (10) pour traiter de l'eau selon le procédé de l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes en utilisant un modèle de résistances en série, le système comprenant :
    a) une unité de membrane immergée dans un réservoir, l'unité de membrane ayant des membranes filtrantes pour retirer le perméat filtré de l'eau en cours de traitement ;
    b) un sous-système (18) pour effectuer une fonction se rapportant au fonctionnement de l'unité de membrane, le sous-système ayant deux ou plusieurs modes discrets de fonctionnement, les modes de fonctionnement différant dans leur effet sur l'encrassement des membranes, dans lequel les modes de fonctionnement diffèrent l'un de l'autre par rapport à un ou plusieurs (a) d'un régime de lavage au reflux, (b) d'un régime de perméation, (c) d'un régime de nettoyage à l'air, (d) d'un régime de nettoyage chimique des membranes ou (e) d'un régime d'amélioration de la capacité de filtration des boues ;
    c) un ou plusieurs collecteurs de données (12) pour recueillir des données se rapportant aux valeurs de plus d'une résistance des membranes de temps à autre tout en faisant fonctionner le système de traitement d'eau (10) ;
    d) un dispositif de commande (14) lié au sous-système (18) et au un ou plusieurs collecteurs de données (12) pour calculer les valeurs de plus d'une résistance des membranes en utilisant le modèle de résistances en série et pour commuter automatiquement le mode de fonctionnement du sous-système en considération des valeurs de la plus d'une résistance calculée à partir des données recueillies ;
    dans lequel le système est à même de vérifier les résistances calculées et de comparer les différentes résistances surveillées à l'encontre de leurs points de consigne respectifs afin d'effectuer des changements adéquats au mode de fonctionnement et :
    i) lorsque l'une quelconque des valeurs des résistances surveillées est plus élevée que l'un quelconque des premiers points de consigne correspondants qui représentent des valeurs de résistance maximales auxquelles le système doit fonctionner, le mode de fonctionnement est choisi pour être un mode de retrait d'encrassement afin de réduire l'encrassement des membranes ;
    ii) lorsque l'une quelconque des valeurs des résistances surveillées se situent entre le premier et le second point de consigne, le mode de fonctionnement n'est pas modifié ; et,
    iii) lorsque toutes les valeurs des une ou plusieurs résistances sont inférieures aux seconds points de consigne correspondants, le mode de fonctionnement est choisi pour être un mode d'économie d'énergie afin de mener à des économies d'énergie.
  7. Système (10) selon la revendication 6, dans lequel le sous-système (18) comprend une ou plusieurs souffleries, un jeu de soupapes, une pluralité d'aérateurs, dans lequel le jeu de soupapes et les souffleries sont à même de fournir un écoulement d'un gaz de la soufflerie aux aérateurs, le débit d'écoulement de gaz alternant dans chaque aérateur entre un débit plus élevé et un débit plus bas et la durée du débit inférieur par rapport à la durée du débit supérieur étant variable entre au moins deux rapports.
